Original John Cary engraved map of Leicestershire 1787

John Cary (1754-1835). An original engraving from the ‘New and Correct English Atlas - Being a New set of County Maps from Actual Surveys’ published in 1787.

Cary served his apprenticeship as an engraver in London before setting up his own business on the Strand in London in 1783. His book of maps in 1787 became a standard reference work.

Dispatched rolled in a map tube.

Condition: Map has previously been framed. There is a bit of paper thinning where the mounting tape was removed from the back (see pictures). Very clean and clear engraved print.
