I believe this to be a railroad-clubcar wall mounted oil lamp from the late 1800s to early 1900s. There is no glass chimney to go with it, but that can be easily found from vintage, or reproduction makers.
This lamp has the model name "EAGLE" on the top edge of the burner. The wick adjustment knob is cast with the words: P&A MFG. CO THOMASTON CONN. MADE IN USA
Most of the lamps of this type I have found, were made at their Waterbury Conn. plant, so this one may be somewhat unique.
The wick adjustment works smooth and the wick is still long.
This lamp has much patina, but some of it's original brass plating is still there, especially on the wall mount bracket. There is much soot, or grime covering much of that brass. 
I have found no dents in the body of the lamp
