Up for sale is a nicely repaired two volume deluxe leather bound edition of Henry Stanley’s great work “In Darkest Africa!   These are the original deluxe leather bound editions, but when I found them they were without spines.  I just had to save them!  Thus, the spines have been replaced, but the boards are original and have just been re-papered and given new leather tips. 

Original and very nice gilt page edges all around (Which differentiates it from the cloth covered editions). There are two steel engravings, one hundred and fifty illustrations and all maps are intact with holding pockets on rear covers. 

CONDITION:  Externally, the book is in Near Fine to Fine condition taking into account the condition of the original gilt page edges.  Internally the page contents are in Near Fine condition.  The pages are virtually free of foxing, age toning or other staining. The maps are in Very Good+ to Fine condition. There are some archival tape pieces on the rear of the very largest map along some of the fold seam lines as you might expect. 

A really nice repaired copy!
