There's a certain thrill in owning and sporting a pristine vintage timepiece; a class distinction that was tucked away by a jeweller or in an estate and forgotten, only to re-emerge years later and be worn again. We at Regency Watches scour the world, searching for rare vintage timepieces in such condition. This Bulova watch is just such a treasure - gleaming and pristine.

DETAILS:

Case:            Round, though noticeably different and subtly sophisticated with angular lugs. Original & signed 'Bulova' marked ‘M9’ for 1969 and topped off with a new acrylic crystal. The all stainless steel case has been cleaned and repolished. In general, the case looks great with only modest wear/scratches present commensurate with the age of the watch. The case is NOT waterproof.

Crown:         Original to the watch showing slight wear.

Dial:              Very eye-catching & immaculate. The silver tone dial is in its original factory fresh condition accentuating and complementing the case. The hour positions are marked with slender rectangular batons (double thickness at the twelve o’clock position) angled to take into account the camber of the dial. These along with the ‘Bulova’ name are raised on the dial to great effect. ‘Waterproof’ and ‘swiss’ are in black. There is a date window at the three o’clock position. Despite what it says on the dial the watch is NOT waterproof.

Hands:         The hour, minute hand and sweep second hands are all original, steel, pitched ‘Dauphine’ style. The hands have not been relumed as they still glow well in the dark.

Movement:   BULOVA Swiss manual wind movement. This is a fine classic 11BLCD calibre with 17 jewels and is marked ‘M9’ for 1969. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and at the time of listing is running well keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended.

Size:            Round, approx. 33.06mm in diameter (excluding lugs). Approx. 39.37mm including the lugs.

Band:           A new 18mm black leather band with silver tone buckle has been fitted which sets off this watch perfectly.

General comments:

This is a great example of a Bulova watch from 1969 which has been lovingly restored to appeal once again and I’m sure you will agree – it certainly does. The repolished case with original silver tone dial make the watch highly attractive.

• This is a vintage manual & selfwinding watch with a movement from 1969 and as such it will not have the accuracy of a contemporary quartz movement therefore perfect time accuracy cannot be expected. If you want a watch to simply put on and go – then perhaps this is not the best choice you could make – however, if you want a period timepiece that you can admire and enjoy on each occasion you wear it, then this is a great item.
