Have you ever tried a salad with juicy leaves and young shoots of wild Ramsons? It tastes like a cross between onion and garlic. Culture is widely used both in cooking and in folk medicine. It is a source of vitamins and trace elements.

Ramsons is an unpretentious plant and will grow anywhere. But in order for the greens to be juicy, it should not be planted in the sun. In a shady place, the Ramsons is most comfortable, it does not grow so quickly, but it will be juicier.

 Cuttings are grown mainly by sowing immediately in the open ground. The seedling method can also be used, but the seeds germinate equally (slowly) with any method, and there is more hassle plus there is a risk of damaging the young bulbs during transplantation.

 Since the seeds germinate slowly, they need preliminary preparation, stratification. It is necessary to mix them with sand, moisten them slightly and put them in the refrigerator for 3 months. Immediately before sowing, it is desirable to process it in a growth stimulator. 

 The site chosen for planting seeds is dug in advance to a depth of 40-50 cm (the roots of the plants are quite powerful). At the same time, weeds and other plant debris are removed. Slaked lime, dolomite flour or powdered eggshells (200-300 g per running meter) are added to the acidic soil. You can also use wood ash — it is not only a good deoxidizer, but also saturates the soil with potassium and phosphorus. About two weeks before planting, the bed is loosened, introducing organic fertilizer to increase soil fertility. Humus, rotted compost will do. But it is undesirable to use fresh manure and manure. Such a potent remedy can "burn" the roots of emerging seedlings.

 The optimal temperature for planting in the ground is about 20 ° C. If it exceeds 25-26 ° C or below 10 ° C within a month after planting, the gardener will at best wait for single shoots.

 To increase germination, seeds are soaked in a solution of any biostimulator for 12-14 hours before planting. Sow seeds in grooves 4-5 cm deep . The width of the aisles is about 20 cm . Sow them as evenly as possible, sprinkle humus mixed with fine sand on top. Peat crumbs are undesirable to use, it strongly acidifies the soil. Then the bed is tightened with a plastic film.

 The first shoots will appear in about a season, that is, in a year and a half. Immediately after that, the shelter will need to be removed. When one real leaf is formed, the plants are planted, leaving 15-20 cm between them. They do this very carefully, removing them from the soil along with a lump of earth. The root system of young seedlings is very fragile. They are buried in the soil for a maximum of 5 cm . During the first two seasons of staying in the open ground, it is advisable not to disturb the plants by cutting off the leaves. It is better to give them the opportunity to form a developed root system. 

The plantings are taken care of by regularly weeding the bed, very carefully loosening the soil and watering them. You need to pay attention to several points:

 - Watering. Very moderate, so that the bulbs do not rot. As soon as the earth in your hands begins to crumble, you can pour a little.

 - Top dressing. You only need to use organic matter: humus for digging, but not more than once every 2 years. And liquid fertilizing during the growth of foliage in the form of infusions of grass or bird droppings.

 - Weeds. It is very important to remove them in time while the Ramsons is young, otherwise they will drown out.

 Ramsons from seeds at home is quite simple, although not fast. The undoubted advantage of the plant is its undemanding care. Having planted it in the garden, the gardener receives a very useful addition to the diet.
