Sunflower is an unpretentious plant, not capricious and does not require special attention to itself. Sunflower is not a frost-resistant plant. The main points you need to know about the care of this plant:

 -watering – once every 7 days the plants should be watered. In the hot season, this can be done more often, as the top layer of the soil dries up; 

 -loosening – it is recommended to loosen the soil around the sunflower trunk regularly to avoid stagnation of water; 

 -weeding – after each watering, it is necessary to remove weeds; 

 -top dressing – organic fertilizers are applied once, at the beginning of plant growth.

In addition, faded inflorescences should be removed without waiting for the formation of seeds. This is done in order to stimulate the plant to throw out new buds.

 A favorable condition for the start of sowing seeds in the open ground is the condition of warming the soil to 10 ° C. The technology of growing sunflower from seeds in the open ground is simple and if you follow all the points, there will be no difficulties:

1. The seeds must be soaked for a day before planting. This is done to speed up the germination process. 

 2. In the prepared soil, make holes 4-5 cm deep. Sunflower needs fertile soil with good drainage, young plants will die in acidic or saline soil. 

 3. Sow 2-3 seeds in each hole, slightly digging them into the soil. 

It is important to adhere to the 70x70 cm planting scheme (the distance between the holes and rows should not be less). 

 4. After the end of sowing, the bed should be rolled up a little and watered. 

Sunflower seeds germinate 7-10 days after sowing. Next, the excess shoots must be removed, leaving the strongest of two or three sprouts.

 It is also possible to grow a sunflower using seedlings (if there are frosts in your region, this will help protect early seedlings from them)

1.1-2 seeds are sown to a depth of 4-5 cm in peat cups filled with a substrate for germinating seedlings or garden soil with humus.

 2. Next, the crops must be watered and covered with a film or glass to conserve moisture, after which they must be removed to a warm place until seedlings appear.

 4. The soil should be watered regularly so that it is always slightly moist, but it is important to avoid stagnation of water.

Seeds should be sown 25-30 days before the proposed transplanting of seedlings into the open ground.

 Young sprouts have their enemies, therefore, the following steps should be taken to save them:

-in order to protect the shoots that have not yet appeared from the harmful effects of slugs and snails, it is advisable to lay out special baits between the rows; 

 -to protect only the sprouted shoots from feathered beds are covered with a mesh or film. 

 Sunflower, despite its drought resistance, requires frequent watering during the development of greenery. To achieve the best development of the peduncle, the beds should be watered at least once a week.

 If sunflower is grown in fertile soils, additional fertilizing is not carried out. If the soil is not nutritious enough, a month after germination, young plants are fertilized with nitrogenous, and during the development of the peduncle with potassium-phosphorus fertilizers.

 In addition, it is impossible to plant a sunflower in the same place for more than one year in a row. This is due to the fact that the culture depletes the soil, pulling out of it a large amount of nutrients and trace elements. Even when fertilizing in subsequent years, sunflower will feel their lack, which will affect its decorative properties.
