Iris is the most popular, decorative group of flowering plants. These flowers have several important advantages – they are easy to grow and care for, if grown in the right position, have a high decorative value.

 Flower culture prefers neutral and slightly alkaline soils, loves light, but can grow in light partial shade. Preference should be given to elevated places protected from the wind. Garden soil, cleared of weeds, is suitable for irises. When digging , they make:

-in sandy soil clay, peat, humus;

-in peat soil dolomite flour;

-in clay soil, river sand, peat, humus.,

iris seeds have a rough shell. In order for the sprout to break through it, stratification is carried out:

 -take a disposable plastic container with a lid and a piece of cloth (gauze);

 -the fabric is moistened, seeds are wrapped in it, put in a container;

 -the container is put in the refrigerator for 2 months;

 -the fabric is occasionally moistened.

 Stratified seeds of irises are sown on seedlings. Planted in a common container 15-20 cm high or in separate cups. Germinate in fertile land. Some gardeners germinate seeds in the substrate for orchids. The seeds are buried by 1.5-2 cm. A week later, shoots appear.

 The care of seedlings is simple. It is necessary to regularly loosen the soil shallowly. It is necessary to water the seedlings in the morning until 11 o'clock. Water should not get on the leaves. Before transplanting to a permanent place, seedlings can be fed with a complex fertilizer. From pests, the soil is sprinkled with sifted ash after watering.

 A week before the irises are transplanted to a permanent place, the plot is prepared. The soil is dug to a depth of 25-30 cm, 8-10 kg of humus, 2 tablespoons of superphosphate, 2 tablespoons of ash are applied to each square meter of the ridge. If the acidity is increased, add dolomite flour.

 You can plant seedlings in a permanent place after the appearance of the 3rd leaf. The bushes are dug out with a lump of earth, planted in prepared wells. Apply planting schemes:

-60 cm pitch for tall varieties;

-40 cm for medium-sized in mixborders;

-25 cm for dwarf irises.

 Care for adult specimens is minimal. Amateurs grow 100 of them in their gardens. With the right choice of location and planting, the perennial blooms abundantly and annually.

 In the absence of rains, they are moistened once a week. Marsh varieties like abundant and more frequent watering. They can grow in water. Organic matter in the form of fresh manure cannot be used as fertilizers. For a perennial, 3 fertilizing with any complex fertilizer for flowering plants is enough for a season.

 Planting irises in the garden can be a difficult and time-consuming task, but the efforts will be rewarded with a colorful and spectacular flowering of a large mass of flowers, which will give an impressive effect.
