Up for sale, a 1979 Greco GO-III 1300 Speed Way in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Made concurrently with the Ibanez Musician guitars at Japan's famed Fujigen factory, this Greco was an upper-tiered offering from the Speed Way line, featuring gold hardware, a TS Vibrato, and an inimitable array of tones. Tonewoods include five-ply neck through maple/walnut body construction, and a carved two-piece bookmatched maple top and back sandwiching a mahogany core. The neck is capped by a slab ebony fingerboard, and the GO-III 1300 offers a rich and complex natural acoustic tone representative of the various woods. The pickups include a pair of PU-3D humbuckers and a centrally located PU-200 single coil, all wired to a six-way rotary pickup selector switch, with dedicated Volume and Tone controls for each pickup. There's a woody cut and clear, glassy sound in every pickup position. The rotary pickup selector covers a broad tonal spectrum from fatter neck pickup heft to single coil sparkle to bridge pickup authority. There’s also a nice spank and cut when the single coil is paired with either humbucker. This Greco weighs 8lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The five-ply maple/walnut neck has a substantial C-shaped profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .880” deep at the 1st fret and .935” at the 12th. The ebony fretboard has a 12” radius and medium jumbo fretwire that has plenty of meat, exhibiting light wear on the crowns of frets 1-2 and extending beneath the plain strings until fret 8. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 11/16” in width, carved from brass. The headstock sports a Greco inlay and the original gold-plated “Speed Way” truss rod cover, and the Greco-branded gold-plated tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The F79-prefix serial dates production to June of 1979. Electronically, everything works as it should, with the pickups wired to the six-way rotary selector which functions as follows (clockwise): -Neck -Middle -Bridge -Neck+Middle+Bridge -Neck+Middle -Middle+Bridge There are individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup. Plastics comprise the six original Sure Grip knobs with grippy rubber surrounds, and hardware includes the TS Vibrato with centrally located vibrato arm. The vibrato has a very smooth response for broad gestures and dives, and the central arm ensures equal tension is applied across all strings. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Natural finish includes a number of dings and finish scratches on the instrument as a whole, and some light buckle rash central to the back. The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
