Listing is for a Vintage 1980 Polistil # CA 102 British Army Chieftain Tank, Diecast Metal, 1:50 Scale, Like New Condition. Chieftain Tank is a heavy die-cast metal vehicle weighing by itself 1 pound, with plastic wheels and 2 chain silver metal tank trends that rotate smoothly. Its turret rotates 360 degrees. Metal Hatch on top of tank turret opens. Tank turret has a black antenna. Tank is painted army green in color. Chieftain metal hatch on top of tank turret opens. Chieftain Tank dimensions are approximately 6" long (8 3/8” with barrel) x 2 3/4" wide x 2" high. Chieftain Tank is in Excellent Condition--All Original: a few minute scratches and paint nicks; No rust, missing parts. or distortion of component parts. There is nothing broken, cracked, or missing from tank. There are a few minor paint chips, that represent less that .005 of green painted tank body. Tank is sold "as is." Polistil Tank was made in Italy. Please note that very few Polistil military tanks are rarely listed on Ebay each year; thus extremely rare to find one.

Chieftain was main battle tank of United Kingdom during 1960s-1990s. A development of Centurion tank, Chieftain tank introduced supine (reclining) driver position to British design allowing a heavily sloped hull with reduced height. A new powerpack and improved transmission gave it higher speed than Centurion tank despite being heavier (55 tons) due to major upgrades to armor protection (14” turret armor) and weapons armament with 120 mm cannon with two machine guns; this allowed it to replace both Conqueror and Centurion tanks while performing their roles effectively. It remained in service until replaced by British Challenger I, which shared many the Chieftain tank's features.
Polistil is an Italian toy brand specialized in die-cast metal and plastic model scale model vehicles of all sizes, including tanks. Starting in 1980s, a variety of Polistil 1:50 scale die-cast metal trucks and tanks (“CA” series) and other military vehicles were produced. After a 33-year span, and a collaboration with Tonka, Polistil went out of business in 1993, but now is a brand under May Cheong Group (owner of the brand Maisto).
