An excellent example enhanced with attractive later hand colouring. Dated in the plate.

Printed on hand laid paper which remains stable and robust, blank verso.

Nicolas De Fer (1646-1720) was the son of French mapmaker Antoine De Fer whose business was based in Paris. Nicolas eventually inherited the declining family business and boosted it to great success. He went on to become official geographer to King Louis XIV and also to Philip V of Spain. His maps are revered for their artistic flair which could take some precedence over geographical accuracy.
