There's a certain thrill in owning and sporting a pristine vintage timepiece; a class distinction that was tucked away by a jeweller or in an estate and forgotten, only to re-emerge years later and be worn again. This lady’s Bulova dress cocktail watch is just such a treasure - gleaming and pristine with luxurious diamond accents.

DETAILS:

Case:            ‘Miss Liberty’ model. Distinctive and with superbly elegant art deco style. The small, rectangular shaped case has chamfered edges and bezel where it meets the lugs. The watch is embellished with two small mounted diamond accents to the top and bottom of the crystal and intricate engraving to sides of the case. Original & signed ‘Bulova’ on the inside of case back. The 14kt white gold-plated bezel and case back have been cleaned & repolished and fitted with a new acrylic crystal. In general the case looks great with minimal wear/scratches commensurate with the age of the watch.

Crown:         Showing a little wear, looking great matching the case.

 

Dial:             Immaculate, and highly noticeable, complementing the distinctiveness of the case the dial has been professionally refinished in a silver tone. The art deco inspired numerals, ‘Bulova’ name and minute chapter are in black.

 

Hands:         Hour and minute hands are original to the watch, blue/black steel, ‘Modern’ style. Excellent.

 

Movement:  BULOVA high quality Swiss manual wind movement. This is a fine classic 4AH calibre with 7 jewels marked an ‘o’ symbol for 1934. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and is running well, keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended.

 

Size:            Small, rectangular shaped, measures approx. 36.05mm from lug to lug X 12.31mm wide excluding the crown.

 

Band:           The watch is fitted with a used ‘Hadley’ hoop link expandable band. The band is approx. 158mm long expanding to 176mm including the watch.

This is an outstanding example of a lady’s Bulova ‘Miss Liberty’ manual wind watch with diamond accents from 1934 which has been restored to appeal once again. The gorgeous art deco styled case and eye-catching silver tone dial make the watch highly attractive and very noticeable indeed. The watch has a distinctive classic look and feel that simply cannot be found in newer watches.

• This is a vintage manual wind watch with a movement from 1934 and as such it will not have the accuracy of a contemporary quartz movement therefore perfect time accuracy cannot be expected. If you want a watch to simply put on and go – then perhaps this is not the best choice you could make – however, if you want a period timepiece that you can admire and enjoy on each occasion you wear it, then this is a great item.
