This listing is for a vintage book, We Japanese, written by Frederic De Garis for H.S.K. Yamaguchi who was the managing director of the Fujiya Hotel in Japan. This book was published by Yamagata Press in 1947. There are a few beautiful features of this book that I should mention. One is the cover which is a beautiful fabric which I believe to be silk. The other is that the pages are a lovely thin paper, and each page is actually a folded piece of paper. According to the preface, this book is an off shoot of printed menus cards that the hotel gave to guests to answer the common questions about Japanese culture. It has now become a beautiful cultural reference book for anyone who loves Japan or Japanese history. The book also includes 355 illustrations. It is divided into various sections of interest like National, Superstitions, Festivals, Sports, Fine Arts and more! The inside cover page reads "Being Descriptions of Many of the Customs, Manners, Ceremonies, Festivals, Arts and Crafts of the Japanese Besides Numerous other Subjects"

Condition: This is a vintage book in very nice condition for its age. The cover is fabric and is soiled. I believe this book would have originally had a wrap , which is missing from this copy.  Of course, the pages have darkened and yellowed with age as you would expect. Take a look at my photos and feel free to reach out with questions!
