Silver weight of Stand : 297.4 Grams (not including inkwell collar a hinged lid and base fitting) so Total weight of silver approx 320 Grams.

A beautiful top quality Crescent shaped with intricate pierced work, solid sterling silver crystal glass inkwell, desk & pen stand.

This inkwell stand is beautiful both in looks and quality, as you would expect from Daniel & Charles Houle, its gauge of silver is very heavy, combined with the superior workmanship makes this piece rather special.

All individual parts of Solid Silver are Hallmarked, Stand, , inkwell collar / lid , insert for inkwell. 

The Main sterling silver stand is dated 1877 ( date letter B ). Ink well collar & lid is dated 1876 ( date letter A ) 

This variance with the dates was very common as the individual solid silver components was made at different locations.

Condition 

Excellent Antique Condition 

Solid silver tray, No dents, dints or scratches, silver works on the pen insert is perfect free form any damage whatsoever.

Cartouche is empty , free from any engravings. 

Pierced work is free from buckles, twists or damage, 

Solid silver inkwell collar / lid is dent, dint and scratch free, fits perfectly and 

Hallmarks on the tray, collar and lid are easily readable, deep, crisp and clear.

Glass bottle inkwell does have one very thin / shallow sliver of glass missing, its very smooth and stable, can’t be seen when inkwell is in stand and very difficult to when inkwell is removed ., PLEASE SEE PHOTOS 9&10. 

This beautiful piece is 146 years of age, it may show some light wear or marks, all commensurate with age. (Very minimal )
