Loree oboe, serial number BE-5 from the early 1960s.  Loree oboes from the B-series are highly sought after by professionals due to their distinctive rich tone.  In recent years, Loree has even begun producing new oboes that use the B-series bore as a model in order to try to recapture some of the character of these great instruments.

It has just been through the J M Reinhardt repair shop and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.  A recent overhaul has given it all cork pads (except the low B and B-flat, which are felt) and notably all teflon-tipped adjustment screws rather than traditional cork bumpers, so this oboe has been modernized to some degree.  It seems to have been very well taken care of over the years and is made from the famed "reddish hued" grenadilla wood of the day.
