Made between 1933 to 1935, this little evening purse has a sewn-in label with the logo of the NRA (National Recovery Act) and the words 'Ladies Handbag Code Authority'.  This US government act was in use between 1933 and 1935.

The body of the purse is made of finely pleated woven fabric in a navy blue and is lined with a satiny fabric.  It has a pocket that has the sewn-in label in it.  It also has a glass mirror (edges unprotected).  The clasp includes a rhinestone filled decorative piece in the shaping of art deco buildings so popular for that time. These are likely paste rhinestones.  The glue is visible on some of the rhinestones and they are not all very shiny but they are all there!

There are two small rings at the top of the purse that hold a short cloth covered handle.

The clasp works as it should - good!  There is no discoloration to the fabric - the only place you notice fading on the fabric is when you lift up the clasp and see a bit darker color under there.

Measurements:  9" wide, 8.5" tall including handle, 3/4" thick.
