For your consideration is this vintage dessert plate produced by Villeroy & Bach. The baskside bears the maker's mark, and it reads "VILLEROY & BOCH / WALLERFANGEN / Made in Saar-Basin" which was used by the company from 1920 until 1935. The plate measures 6.3 inches in diameter. The border and main color is red on a white background. The border has lovely peonies, flying doves and floral bouquets surrounded by small floral sprays. In the center is an old abbey motif with a shepherd and his sheep towards the front of the view. I have not been successful in identifying this pattern's name as it is not listed on Replacements nor in any of my library resources. The plate does have a few surface abrasions that can be seen when holding under a bright light, crazing and some rough spots on the rim's edge. It is still a beautiful piece and perfect for holiday use.
