This is a first paperback edition, first printing of Splinter of the Mind's Eye by Alan Dean Foster. It was among the first items in the Star Wars expanded universe, released in 1978, one year after the first film and approximately the same time as the newspaper comic strip and the Marvel comics. Had Star Wars not been a hit, this story would have formed the basis for a low-budget sequel film. That didn't happen, so here we are.
