Beautiful historical rare (7,000 struck) Sede Vacante Silver Medal issued by the Cardinal Jean--Marie Villot, dated MCMLXXVIII. The Medal is designed, and signed, by R. Vistoli. The Medal is about 40 mm across, and weighs about 31.2 g (.986 Silver). The Edge is plain, with no mintmarks.

The Medal was issued during the SEDE VACANTE period after the Death of Pope John Paul I and before the Election of Pope John Paul II. 

The Obverse of the Medal depicts the Coat of Arms of the Camerlengo, Cardinal Jean-Marie Villot, and the Lettering reads:  JOANES • CARD • VILLOT • S • • R • E • CAMERARIVS • --   

The Reverse of the Medal depicts  Umbrella over keys of Saint Peter, and the Lettering reads:  • SEDE • APOSTOLICA • VACANTE •  • MCMLXXVIII •
