~ Hello and welcome to The Textile Trunk! ~ Please come join us on Instagram: @textiletrunk ~
I was very fortunate to have been offered a collection of these wonderful Tambor lace curtains and textiles. This is one from the collection. To view the others from this collection simply search my store for the words " Cornely lace "
This textile is from France and dates form the late 1800's to early 1900's ~ C1900 a beautiful whitework hand embroidered cornelli lace work Chateau window length Curtain. Entirely hand stitched onto a fine Indian muslin ground and hand embroidered in cotton with trailing floral motifs worked in chain stitch. I love the many patterns these reveal~ This textile is elegant and rare ~ These curtains were highly popular in France in the 19th and early 20th century. Because they are so light , they do not often survive without signs of time and use ~ These curtains were most often used as bed hangings ~

MEASUREMENTS : This lovely lace curtain panel measures approximately 111 inches long by 55 inches wide at the bottom.

CONDITION ~ this textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. This panel is in wonderful condition for these textiles. . It has a few small holes that can be mended. The largest is an L shaped tear about one inch that can be mended ~ it's in fabulous condition for these textiles, however it's not without signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful textiles ~
