A very smart and fine quality mahogany wood and brass mounted campaign apothecary box, George III period c.1800-1820. The box with engraved name to the top ‘R.O. Gascoigne’ the box with hinged lid opens to reveal a red velvet lined 8 sectioned compartment, a pin mechanism is released to access the draw within the bottom of the box with further compartments and removable red velvet lined tray. The well crafted box with good quality flush brass handles as is common for pieces used in the campaigns. The box vacant with no internal bottles/contents. A key mechanism to the front of the box, key not present.

22.8cm x 25.4cm x 9.9cm overall.

The left side of the box has an old age repeated split to the wood, some overall light surface wear and small patinated knocks as expected with age and use. The hinges and pin drawer release mechanism working well. The inside of the box in good antique condition with some signs of age and use however this does not detract from a smart box which is very usable and displays well. Please be guided by the photographs and do not hesitate to ask any questions.
