Company As a result of analyzing market requirements and following global trends in increasing the efficiency of energy use, Ropam Elektronik decided to combine the functional requirements for power supplies for alarm systems and energy standards for power supplies for automation systems. When analyzing the new solution, the following were taken into account: technical requirements, ecological aspects and minimization of operating costs. Great emphasis was also placed on the operation of emergency power batteries. Thanks to the use of the correct two-phase charging process of constant current and then constant voltage (I/U) and auto-temperature compensation of the charging voltage, the operation of the batteries in normal conditions was extended to the manufacturer's design value. This is of great importance for the reliability of the system and introduces measurable economic benefits for the user by extending the time of replacement and service inspections. It should be remembered that the battery life is reduced by up to half for each temperature increase of 8°C, i.e. operation at 28°C will shorten the 'life time' by 50% and at 36°C by 75% compared to the designed life. Many other buffer power supplies on the market with low efficiency and high power heat the inside of the housing to critical conditions and do not have auto-compensation for the charging voltage. What's worse, they often have cooling elements (radiators) located near the battery, which causes local heating of the battery and drastic overcharging of the heated cells and corrosion of the electrodes. Currently, the most common standard of power supplies in alarm systems is a design based on the following scheme: 230Vac network → single-phase transformer → low-voltage rectifier → linear stabilizer or low-voltage converter → 12Vdc output. The result of our work are the PSR-ECO series AC/DC power supplies, which are characterized by efficiency up to 91% and the highest functionality and universality of use in low-current installations. PSR-ECO power supplies are based on modern integrated voltage converters (SMPS switch mode power supplies). They are devoid of elements that generate the greatest energy losses: separation transformer, low-voltage rectifier, low-voltage stabilizer. The power supply integrates three functions in one: regulated power supply, battery charger, 12V/DC or 24V/DC UPS (see version). 1.
