Capped Bust Half Dollar Type 1 (Lettered Edge) 1836 About Uncirculated condition (Rare Coin !)

Steeped in history this is one of America’s very early half dollars designed by John Reich at the turn of the 19th century. It proved to be a very popular design and lasted from 1807 to 1839. These very early US half dollars were among the FIRST EVER half dollars in US coinage history. Many of these pieces were held and traded between banks so many survived with relatively light wear (uncirculated).

The following coins were the early (1794) US Silver half dollars -


1) -Flowing Hair the first ever US Half Dollar 1794–1795 (George Washington the First US President).


2) -Draped Bust the second US Half dollar 1796–1807 (John Adams the Second US President).


3) -Capped Bust the third Half Dollar dollar 1807–1839 (Thomas Jefferson the Third US President).


This example is in AU condition and is 187 years old. It was minted at a time when :


-Thomas Jefferson was President.


- The Battle of the Alamo had just begun (1836).


- Samuel Colt received his US Patent 1836 to produce the Colt Revolver (revolving barrel 6 shot firearm).


-Davy Crockett was executed after the Battle of the Alamo (1836)
