A Quick History Lesson

KST Era: Founded in 1988 by Harold S. Albrecht, Kevin Sports Toys (KST) set the stage with its initial production. Inspired by the short lifespan of his son's hockey games, Albrecht designed a durable table hockey game. From 1989-1991, KST launched the Wayne Gretzky Overtime game, with different versions for Canada (featuring teams like the LA Kings and Montreal Canadiens) and the U.S. (highlighting the LA Kings and NY Rangers). Original KST games had 21 teams, later adding the San Jose Sharks and the '91 Minnesota North Stars in black, akin to the Dallas Stars' first jersey, totaling 23 teams.

Buddy L Contribution: Between 1992-1995, Buddy L (under SLM International) furthered the legacy with their NHL All-Star Deluxe and Table Top editions both coming with the black and white NHL All-Star teams. These sets introduced a second mounting hole, broadening player compatibility. The roster expanded to 24 teams, with a rare printing error variant of Hartford Whalers in Nordiques Light Blue. Buddy L also diversified into Street Hockey with vibrant orange and green teams.

Playtoy’s Chapter: From 1996-1998, Playtoy kept the momentum with its full-sized Wayne Gretzky All-Star version, featuring red and blue teams.
