Paul Smith and Caran d'Ache have collaborated on the fourth edition of their popular "849" series, a limited edition fountain pen in two-tone colors.

Caran d'Ache's "849" features a hexagonal body reminiscent of a pencil made of sturdy aluminum, a flexible clip, and a slim case.

It has been overwhelmingly popular since its birth in 1969, and its abundant color variations have always given people fresh surprises.

Paul Smith, a regular user of the 849 pen, created a limited edition color of the 849 in 2015 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Caran d'Ache, Switzerland's proud manufacturer of fine writing instruments.

The two-tone color scheme of Edition 4 reflects the popular colors found in Paul Smith's clothing.

Surprises, contrasts, clashes and harmonies are evoked in a graphical color scheme that reinterprets Paul Smith's design signature stripes and expresses a sense of opulence.

The special design features the Paul Smith logo on the reverse side of the clip face where the Caran d'Ache logo appears.

The package is arranged in the same color combination as the body and can be used as a pen case.
