Up for your consideration is an amazing Inuit stone carving of a seal or Sea Lion. This was picked up by my Grandfather somewhere in his many travels. Most likely picked up in the 1940’s-1950’s. The piece probably dates to the early 1900’s. It is very heavy for its size. It measures 7 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide. It has been displayed in my fishing cottage for many years. This vintage Inuit carving from Canada is a stunning representation of a sea lion seal, expertly crafted from soapstone. The heavy, handmade piece is a beautiful addition to any collection of Canadian Aboriginal artwork.

The tribal affiliation of the artist is Inuit, and the carving dates back to the early 1900’s. The piece is unmodified and features refinements that make it a truly unique and special item. Add this piece to your collection of Canada: Aboriginal artwork.
