Original Medal--Romania Kingdom Medal for Manhood and Loyalty with Crossed Swords, III Class (Medalia Bărbăţie şi Credinţă cu spadele încrucişate), 1916-1947 issue

Oval bronze (3rd class) medal with crossed swords and laurel wreath suspension. Obverse has the head of King Carol I circumscribed CAROL I. REGE AL ROMÂNIEI (Carol I King of Romania). The reverse is inscribed BĂRBĂŢIE ŞI CREDINŢĂ (Manhood and Loyalty) with a laurel branch below. The bronze medal is without a ribbon.

The medal was instituted in 1903 for police, as well as civilians, for preserving or restoring public order. In 1916 crossed swords were added to the suspension and the medal became a war decoration for bravery in the face of the enemy--awarded to non-commissioned Officers and enlisted men in service to the Crown of Romania.

From my personal collection. The one pictured is the one you will receive.
