Welcome. Thanks for stopping in. Looking for something unique? Up for sale is a Univox U-235 2x12 Custom Combo Amplifier restoration. This unit is SN-47744 manufactured in Japan in the early 1960s, most likely 1969-1970. This amp started as a head chassis which has been fully restored, modified, and mounted in a new 2x12 case. This amp is in excellent condition. This amp is fully customized including tone circuitry mods intended for guitar. This amp has lots of unique vintage appeal, and plenty of vintage sound and power to go along with it.

This amp is straight no-frills. Equipped with a single channel, Bass, High, and Low inputs, Volume, Bass and Treble tone controls, and Sharp and Deep switches. Plenty of opportunities to tailor the sound you are looking for. Its low gain circuitry stays fairly clean and will take pedals well. The Sharp switch circuitry has been modified with a higher value V1A bypass cap to produce more mids, and a post V1B bright cap for nice highs. The Deep switch remains original, by itself bringing out some big booming bass, and together with the Sharp switch, really adds some bass punch. This amp achieves clean output up to 33 Watts RMS. This amp is equipped with a vintage 12AV7 V1, unique to this circuit mod, producing about 2x the gain of the original 12AU7, and all new Tung Sol V2-V5 line-up including 6L6GC-STRs. The Power and Output Transformers are original. The amp is equipped with new C12Q 35 watt Jensen Speakers (16 ohm) with fairly decent efficiency. This amp sounds great, has low noise, has been burned in, extensively tested, and documented. This amp is provided with schematics including an As-Built and one documenting all mods and parts replaced.

The all new case is constructed of light-weight laminated plywood, Black/Silver and White Tolex, Silver Piping, Black/Silver Grill Cloth, and Bakelite Dak-Ware knobs, meticulously constructed in the spirit of the elusive U302. The Logo (Badge) is vintage while the Handle new, both common in the early Univox's. At 38 pounds, it won't break your back. A cover with a unique custom Univox Emblem sewn on the front is included and will keep this amp looking its best.

The Univox U-235 with it's low gain circuitry is a great sounding circuit and with the chassis and faceplate mods, makes a great top-mount combo amp.

This amp includes a number of safety and protection upgrades including a power cord with grounding, AC line safety capacitor, varistor surge protection, HT fusing, Standby trickle charge resistor, an HT discharge resistor, and OT output protection resistor. The transformers are original. All power supply, electrolytics, coupling capacitors, potentiometers, and a majority of the resistors, have been replaced. Bias monitoring resistors have been added allowing for checking the output tube balance. There are minor scratches, imperfections, and metal oxidation typical of an amp over 50 years old.

The return period for this unit is fourteen (14) days after confirmed delivery from UPS is received. During this period, you may return the unit for any reason. Due to the effort that was required for this restoration, it is important that SLA Restorations LLC understands why the unit is being returned, so SLA Restoration LLC simply asks that the buyer provide a detailed explanation as to why the unit is being returned. The unit must be returned undamaged, unabused, unaltered, fully operational, in the original packaging, and with all the original paperwork. Return shipping is paid by the buyer. A full refund (excluding return shipping) will be given only after verification of these terms have been complied with. SLA Restoration LLC will not be responsible for any damage during return shipping therefore it is highly recommended that insurance be purchased by the buyer. Failure to comply with these terms can result in up to a 25% restocking charge, at the sole discretion of SLA Restoration LLC.

The warranty period for this unit is thirty (30) days after confirmed delivery from UPS is received. This warranty is valid only to the original buyer. The warranty covers all parts, work, and modifications installed/performed on the unit by SLA Restoration LLC. This warranty does not cover failure of any original vintage parts. Return shipping for warranty service is paid by the buyer. The unit will be evaluated by SLA Restoration LLC upon return, and the buyer will be notified as to the cause of the failure prior to repair. SLA Restoration LLC will repair/replace the parts, work, and modifications performed originally by SLA Restoration LLC and return the unit to operating condition free of charge to the buyer and return the unit to the buyer. If the cause of the failure is determined to be the failure of a vintage part not covered by this warranty, the buyer will be responsible for the cost of parts and labor to return the unit to operational condition or can elect to have the unit returned without repair. During the warranty period, the unit must be returned to SLA Restoration LLC for repair. Attempts at repair by the buyer or by any other person will void this warranty. A detailed explanation of the problem(s) is required prior to the unit’s return. The unit must be returned to SLA Restoration LLC undamaged and unabused, unaltered, unmodified, in the original packaging, and with all the original paperwork. SLA Restoration LLC will not be responsible for any damage during return shipping therefore it is highly recommended that insurance be purchased by the buyer. SLA Restoration LLC will make every attempt to repair the unit, unfortunately, there may be vintage parts that cannot be replaced with modern alternatives. If for some reason a vintage part has failed that cannot be replaced, the unit will be returned to the buyer unrepaired. Return shipping to the Buyer after warranty service is paid by SLA Restoration LLC.
