As a teacher of Charles le Brun, Francois Perrier had a great influence on French painting. He was born in Pontarlier and went to Rome in 1625 to study under Giovanni Lanfranco. In 1630 he worked with the court painter Simon Vouet in Paris. From 1632 to 1634 he was the teacher of Charles le Brun, on whom he had a decisive influence. In 1635 Francois Perrier returned to Rome, where he worked on the frescoes in the Palazzo Peretti-Almagià. In 1645 he worked with Eustache Le Sueur at the Hôtel Lambert.
