This is a custom men's fedora, made as an exact copy of the fedora Humphrey Bogart wore in the 1948 film "Treasure of the Sierra Madre". This was measured and hand made by Greeley Hat Works for my Late friend, Eric Sherman, who never wore it other than the initial fitting. The shipping box indicates it was made in 2010.
Greeley Hat Works from Colorado is very well known, and has made hats for President Bush, as well as many celebrities, and worn in movies and on TV. There is a full line of hats based on the Yellowstone TV series.
I was told but my late friend's family that Eric had owned the original movie worn fedora, and traded it to Greeley Hat Works for a new replica. I have tried to reach the owner to ask about this, but no response yet.
Staff at Greeley Hat Works told me this is made of European Hare, and it has a soft felt finish. It is light gray in color. They also informed me that similar new custom hats currently cost $425.
There is a cedar spacer block with the name Eric Sherman, size 22 1/16, which translates to approx. size 7 1/16. The other side of the block is signed by the owner, Trent Johnson, who apparently made the hat.
This is in absolutely mint condition, with no scuffs, scrapes, or stains. The only indication that it was pre-owned are the initials "E.S." hidden under the inside hatband. It still has the original white cardboard storage box, and will be shipped in the original outer cardboard box. The white box has a small hole halfway punched through the underside, but does not affect the storage of the hat.
