Grumpy Layout Drawing by animator legend
Bill Tytla

 "Hah, women!"
Disgruntled by Snow White's request to clean up before supper, Grumpy walks out of the cottage, as seen in this layout drawing crafted masterfully by Bill Tytla (1904 - 1968), one of the most renowned animators in Disney history.

Rendered in graphite with colored pencil, this layout drawing was done to plan for the scene at the 42:28 mark of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
when Grumpy exits through the door until he sits disgruntled on the barrel,
includes a detailed layout drawing of the outside area of the dwarfs' cottage.

This incredible drawing is a spectacular demonstration of Bill Tytla's great skills, not only in planning for the spatial positioning of the dwarf but also in his body language that communicates without dialogue exactly how Grumpy feels about washing before supper.

Images like these, displaying Tytla's great eye for motion and gesture, show us why Tytla was one of the first animators assigned to work on the iconic Disney animated film!

The layout drawing was created in colored pencil on 12-field 5-peghole animation sheets, showing normal age-related toning.

In EXCELLENT condition with minor handling and edge wear from production.

This work is from the Famed Disney Animator Bill Tytla Archive.

The VIDEO uploaded shows how the drawing was used in the 1937 film!
