This auction is for a vintage painting of an adorable young boy with the bluest mischievous eyes that match his blue outfit, signed J or S Wender….dated 1953. It is on paper. Lots of detail! Frame shows normal wear and bumps consistent with age including faint spots at bottom of mat. The frame is a silver metal frame that does seems original to the 1953 date of the portrait. Beautiful original work by renowned Jackson Square portrait artist Brandi Downs.

Brandi Downs (Bessie Douglas) taught Art in Dallas Public Schools and in the New Orleans Senior Program. She worked at Jackson Square as a portrait artist for more than 30 years. She has a BFA from MSCW (now MUW, in Columbus, MS.) At the age of 84, she is still teaching Advanced Art classes at the University of Southern Mississippi.
