Tantalus by Betjemann & Sons veneered in beautiful figured Walnut with ornate silver plated mounts, swing handle and lock mechanism.

The handle is marked above the lock mechanism: “Betjemann’s Patent 42790 London” and ” The Tantalus on the other end.

This tantalus houses three unusual cut glass decanters with faceted stoppers. To release the decanters the lock mechanism must be first unlocked by pressing the key into the sprung lock and turning it clockwise. Once unlocked the whole mechanism can be pressed down allowing the handle to be tilted forwards or backwards to gain access to the decanter.

Complete with fully working lock and tasselled key.
