DESCRIPTION

The first edition of this uncommon work.

'A Journey in Other Worlds' depicts a utopian future earth dominated by a capitalistic America, with the countries of Europe having succumbed to socialism.

The author, John Jacob Astor IV, was an important American business magnate of the formidable Astor family. In April 1912 Astor boarded the RMS Titanic as its richest passenger, and sadly died in its sinking.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and nine plates by Dan Beard.

Collated, complete.


CONDITION

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Chip and lifting to the head of the spine. Minor bumping to the tail of the spine and to the extremities. A little light rubbing to the spine and extremities, lighter to the gilt. A few light marks to the rear board. Hinges are starting but firm. Mark to the recto of the front endpaper. Bookseller's label to the rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
