This edition of The Great Way is the new and popular edition, with the novel being first published in 1921. Flaming Felicia was first published in 1934.

Anne Duffield was born to Canadian parents, but moved to England, marrying and settling in Essex and then Wiltshire. Duffield wrote fifty-two novels between 1928 and 1960. Author of The Great Way, Horace Fish, died in 1919, not long after publishing this final work.

These novels explore themes of romance, excitement and the meaning of happiness. Duffield's works are set in a number of different locations, including England, Berlin, Sweden and Lisbon. Many of Duffield's novels surround the theme of the Second World War.
