Illustrated throughout with frontispiece and five hundred and seventeen figures from photographs. Collated complete.

A detailed biological study of the life of a tree, from seed to full growth. This work includes chapters on root systems, shoot systems, leaves and foliage, flowers and fruit, the activity of the tree, seeding and germination, as well as a comprehensive guide to classification.

Written by Percy Groom, a British plant biologist who studied botany at the University of Cambridge.

With illustrations from photographs by Henry Irving, a British photographer of trees and flowers.


CONDITION

Bound in half crushed morocco with green cloth boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and the odd mark to the board. Light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd handling mark. Spotting to the endpapers.
