DESCRIPTION

The first edition of Volume I of a three-volume set, in the publisher's original cloth binding with pictorial gilt to the front board and spine. All edges gilt.

Library sticker to the front paste down.

Illustrated with 134 full-page black-and-white photographs and numerous in-text photographs by Charles Latham (1847-1912), the photographer for Country Life magazine in the early years of the 20th century. Collated, complete.

A profusely illustrated volume exploring the architecture, furniture and furnishings of notable English houses, including Audley End in Essex; Castle Howard in Yorkshire; Haddon Hall in Derbyshire; Kingston Lacy in Dorset; Sandringham in Norfolk; Stourhead in Wiltshire; Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire; and many more.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally generally smart, though slightly faded to the boards and spine. Gilt remains bright. Light shelf wear to the joints and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean.
