1 x Indiana Rhizome supplied Bare Rooted
Water lilies are the jewel of any pond
Ideal for
Small to Large ponds. A free flowering and prolific lily once mature and take’s
very Little looking after.
Please
bear in mind size is dependent on variety Of Lily and Not all Rhizomes will
look exactly the same. We Will remove all existing foliage as this will
encourage new growth when planting.
Suggested
planting depth is around 30-80cm for best results. though will go deeper if
needed.
Lilies are a
must have plant for any pond. The leaves shade the water helping to reduce
algae and providing shelter for animals and help protect fish from predators
such as herons.
Lilies
should be planted at least 10cm below the surface to protect the crown from
ice. As a guide lilies are best planted 30 – 80cm below the water surface. If
planted to shallow the suns heat will encourage vigorous leaf growth which will
reduce flowering. If planted too deep growth will be slow as the crown of the
plant will be cooler.
Excessive
leaf growth can be trimmed. Ideally remove the old dying leaves that are on the
pond surface to make space for new growth.
The only
native lily to the UK is Nymphaea Alba. However all lilies look perfectly at
home in even a wildlife pond.
