A little car that had no opening doors or special features and consequently didn’t sell terribly well. Also few people in Britain had ever heard of NSU in 1965.
Add to that a strange metallic brick-red shade and you have a car that is going to sit on shelves and not sell in huge quantities at the time. It is now quite a hard variation to find.
Someone has applied some lacquer to the paintwork at some time in the distant past and added some odd decals. There is also some corrosion on the bonnet. However, these dark red metallic editions are rare and this is too good to discard or break to restore.
It also has a nice clean box which is in good condition apart from all the flaps missing at one end. This is missing from many collections as not everyone realises there were the two very distinct colours.
This can also be found in a more common mid pink-cerise shade which is somewhat brighter.
There is a range of models at my own website- just enter corgi.toys in your browser - where there are full details, more photos and discounted prices shown. These include the scarce blue Simca 1000 and another example of this NSU, with a few photos included in this listing too.
