This is a Seth Thomas ships clock made in the USA by the Seth Thomas Co.  It winds well, runs and appears to keep time but likely needs some cleaning and adjustment since it does stop eventually without fully unwinding the mainspring. I have not heard any strike or chime on the hour from it but you may understand its design and capacity better from the pictures.  The clock case is brass and has a decent shine to it.  However, there are many small dents which are reflective of its age and use.  I could not find any serial numbers to help date the clock but you may have better luck. The face is in decent shape but does show age and some wear. I do not know the age of this clock but would guess 1940's maybe? The clock overall diameter is 7", the movement and face diameter is 6" and the depth is 3 3/8."  The clock weighs 4lbs (1.834kg).
