About Artist :

Tang Yin (from March 6, 1470 to January 7, 1524), known as Bohu, later changed to Ziwei, and was also known as Liuru Jushi, Taohua Anzhu, Tang Sheng of the State of Lu, and Escaping Zen Immortal Officer. He was born in Wu County, Suzhou Prefecture, Southern Zhili. Famous painter, calligrapher, and poet of the Ming Dynasty.

Tang Yin's ancestor was Tang Hui, a general from Lingjiang, Jinchang County, Liangzhou, which directly influenced Tang Yin. He also used the phrase "Jinchang Tang Yin" in his calligraphy and painting titles. In the early Tang Dynasty, his ancestor Tang Jian followed Li Yuan in rebellion and was appointed as the "Duke of Ju", so Tang Yin also referred to himself as the "Tang Sheng of Lu". In the Ming Dynasty, his ancestor Tang Tai was appointed as the chief driver of the Ministry of War and died in the Tu Tu Bao Incident. The descendants of Tang Tai are mostly scattered in the areas of Baixia and Qiaolijian in Wuxian, Suzhou. Tang Yin was also born in this area, and his father Tang Guangde ran a small tavern. His father asked him to study and seek fame, but Tang Yin did not disappoint his father's expectations. At the age of 16, he ranked first in the Suzhou Provincial Examination, and at the age of 28, he ranked first in the Zhili Township Examination in Central South China. The following year, he entered Beijing to participate in the military examination. Due to involvement in the imperial examination case in the twelfth year of the Hongzhi reign (1499), Tang Yin was imprisoned and demoted to an official. From then on, Tang Yin lost his enterprising spirit and wandered the world, buried in poetry and painting, eventually becoming a famous painter of his generation. In his later years, Tang Yin lived in great poverty, sometimes relying on his friends' assistance to support him. He passed away at the age of 54 due to illness. [2]

Tang Yin, along with Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming, and Qiu Ying, is known as the "Four Schools of Wu Men" (or the Four Schools of Ming) in his paintings. His lineage is Li Tang and Liu Songnian, and he blends the Southern and Northern painting schools. His brushstrokes are delicate, his layout is sparse, and his style is elegant, elegant, and handsome. Figure painting inherits the tradition of the Tang Dynasty, with bright and elegant colors, beautiful postures, and accurate shapes; I also use freehand brushwork to depict characters, with simple and concise strokes that are full of interest. Its flower and bird paintings are longer than ink freehand brushwork, free and elegant. The calligraphy is exceptionally steep and handsome, modeled after Zhao Mengfu. In poetry and prose, he is known as the "Four Talents of Wu Zhong" along with Zhu Yunming, Wen Zhengming, and Xu Zhenqing.
