Classic Rio Grande Blanket, Handmade Rug, Folk Art, Orange. Often attributed to early colonists of Hispanic New Mexico.


This item is a rare beauty. It is an early American Spanish Colonists Textile. It features a heavy weaving, originating it to San Juan Colorado Valley. The San Juan Valley had harsh winters, and thicker textiles.


This banded Rio Grande blanket, rug, saddle blanket, textile was made in the late 1800s. Likely in the 1860s or 1870s. The fabric is all homespun (handspun wool) with natural orange, natural brown, and white. This is a double blanket seamed down the center.


It is in great condition.
