Original hand-drawn pen and ink/watercolor story map of Colorado located in the western, mountainous Rocky Mountain region of the United States. This map features major cities and towns within and at the base of the Rocky Mountains as they pass through the western half of the state.

These stretch from the northern boundary of the state all the way to the southern boundary including: Fort Collins (a mid-size college town that offers rich artistic culture), Boulder (the hip city that blends many niche groups for outdoor recreation and urban recreation with hiking, climbing, shopping, checking out local breweries and more), Denver (the capital of Colorado that has a grown to be known as a major city in the U.S. in a short time making it a unique, young metropolitan area at the base of the Rockies), Aspen (famous for unparalleled skiing), Colorado Springs (a smaller city that has a lively downtown with endless outdoor activities surrounding the town including a special trip to the impressive Rock Structure, Garden of the Gods), and Grand Junction, Telluride and Durango in the far west and southwest region of Colorado in the area of the Hopi and Navajo indigenous tribes (known for having a perfect climate for growing grapes to produce wine, world-renowned skiing as well as quintessential alpine activities such as hiking, biking, rafting, kayaking, skiing and more). 

This map not only showcases the variety in activities and characteristics specific to each city and town, but also verifies Colorado as being one of the most multi-faceted states for outdoor entertainment, landscape, and wildlife. With high mountain peaks, as well as the southwest region slowly approaching a desert-like landscape, Colorado’s famous landmarks display great variety. These landmarks include: Rocky Mountain National Park, Dinosaur National Monument, Red Rocks Amphitheater, the Denver Skyline, Black Canyon on the Gunnison River, Cliff Palace Mesa Verde National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Maroon Bells, San Juan Mountains, and the Colorado River. 

The wildlife of the state matches the diversity of the landscape beginning with: moose, Rocky Mountain elk, painted turtles, Bald Eagles, lark bunting, Golden Eagles, snow geese, marmot, Bighorn Sheep, and more. The complex landscape offers ecosystems for a variety of stunning wildflowers such as: Whiproot Clover, Fremont’s Ragwort, Spring Beauty and Rocky Mountain Columbine.
