Why you need this bracket

This bracket has been made to avoid purchasing the expensive OEM relocation console for the E46 BMW when you upgrade the radio system. When you install a double din unit, the HVAC (AC Unit) controls need to be relocated to below their original position instead of the storage cubby. The controls don?t fit here very well and under acceleration, it will fly out.

Installation

There are 2 ways to install the bracket, both are very simple and only take a few minutes:

1: Remove the existing HVAC controls from their new position (after double din install) and unplug. Inside the console, there will be 2 black screws at the top, remove these screws and then place your bracket into the gap with the triangular wedges sitting against where you removed the screws, making sure to feed your HVAC cables through the bracket. Screw the bracket into place and then push your HVAC controls back into place. It will clip in when secured. This method is the most secure, it will fit further back in the console but will leave a slight visible gap underneath the controls.

2: Remove the existing HVAC controls from their new position (after double din install) and unplug. Slide your bracket onto the back of the controls with the triangular wedges (with holes in) facing upwards, and the long arms facing down / backwards. Slide the bracket on as far as it will go. Reconnect the cables to the HVAC controls and then push them back into place. It will click when secured. This method makes the control unit sit slightly proud of the console, however, does not leave a visible gap underneath, personally, I prefer this method and think it looks better.

Additional Information

These brackets are manufactured in varying colours but the majority of the time will be black. This doesn?t make a difference as it is fully hidden behind the controls once installed.

The bracket may be dispatched with support material still attached to avoid damage during transit, if this is the case, instructions will be provided on how to remove the support material.
