Shim to fix door gap

I noticed the door seal in the center was not sealing. Having the fridge for only a few months this concerned me. The fridge included a shim kit to level the doors but the door on the left was higher than the right and has the center flap that closes to seal the center.

The problem was this white lever. It was sitting just below the engagement point on the fridge. Since I open the fridge from the top I was applying pressure downward which caused it to just be under the engagement point. It looks better now after installing the shims that come with the fridge. (pn# DA99-45158A) but it still looked a little low for my liking. Plus I had to have help to install the shims as someone has to hold the door up while the shims are installed. So I decided to make a shim that could be added under the top clip to lower the engagement space. It can also be installed by one person.

The shim drops it down 3mm.

Lever sits higher, I am not concerned about it now. Even if the bushings wear out it will engage properly.

It's a shame that this issue even exists. I have the top shim available for sale on Ebay. I might consider making some of the bottom shims to include in a kit but they really are not needed if you install the top shim and I am not sure how long the bottom shims will last.

4/25/24 Update - I went ahead and made the shims. You get 6 of the lower shims in assorted sizes from 1.5mm up to 4.0mm, I made them out of PETG material so they should hold up to use.
