This cover is marked as 'Identified as a Forgery' on the reverse. The stamps and envelope are genuine. The Buckingham Palace postmarks are forgeries. The cover is addressed to Harmers Philatelic Auctioneers in London on the day of issue 3rd June 1953.
Had the postmarks been genuine, this first day cover would be catalogued at £2,500. This cover would make an extremely good 'space-filler' for those collectors who could never afford that sort of money - and that's assuming they could find a copy in such good condition!
Whilst these stamps are fairly common, they are extremely rare on illustrated first day covers with Buckingham Palace postmark.
