There are a few scuff marks on corners and edges, but on the whole it is in lovely condition with beautiful patina.

The inside is lined in leather.

The box has no label or name on it.

The Tuareg are Berber people with a traditionally nomadic lifestyle. They are the principal inhabitants of the extensive region of the Sahara Desert. Handcrafted leather covered boxes are a traditional Tuareg craft, which features an art form called TRIK. Intricately hand tooled with tribal symbols, these boxes are all entirely covered in leather over a wood base.
