Queen Elizabeth II’s brooch collection is well stocked with pieces set with diamonds and pearls but the Teck Emperor of Austria Brooch, also has something extra, a Habsburg imperial provenance.
The brooch arrived in the royal collection via Queen Mary. It originally belonged to her mother, Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck. The jewel was given to Mary Adelaide in 1870 by one of the most significant royal figures of the nineteenth century: Emperor Franz Josef of Austria-Hungary.
Thr Duke of Teck was an Austrian, he served with the Imperial Austrian army. When he retired from the army he moved to England to marry Princess Mary Adelaide in 1866.
The origins of the brooch are uncertain but regardless of its Austrian imperial origins. It was probably made in England The brooch is circular with a pearl centre and 12 brilliant cut diamonds around the edge. The original has three detachable baroque pearl pendants.
Our version is constructed from 4 Freshwater pearls, 5A cubic zirconias and rhodium plated copper. It has been created for Karianne’s Secret and is exclusive, it is only available at our outlets. This beautiful piece of jewellery will be a must for royal collectors but it will be worn simply as a striking piece.
