This small antique Gerogian gold washed base metal wax seal fob features a brown glass intaglio with man's head who wears 3 leaves in his hair.
 
Intaglios were used to authenticate documents and secure them. Wax seal fobs were usually attached the men's watch chain. Women wore them as well as a pendant or on their chatelaine. A chatelaine was a form of functional jewellery worn hanging at the waist. Small useful objects were attached to it such as scissors, purse, fob watch, pin cushion, writing utensils.

Age: Early 19th century

Condition: In excellent antique condition, intaglio does not have any damage

Size: Approx 2cm long, base 1.5cm x 1.5cm
