This is one of the earliest C-2s we have seen on the market. With the official release date in 1960, this model snuck out in 1957, with Gibson’s effort for a mid-priced classical guitar. Maple back & sides with a Cedar top and a unique Brazilian rosewood bridge with inlaid Iron Cross (the only other Gibson we have seen with this feature were the 1950s J-185s) – assuming this was a custom order or possible after market addition (although the finish on the bridge appears original). This has moderate playwear and an extensive, yet professionally repaired back crack and typical Gibson finish checking. This C-2 came from the estate of a local classical player under the tutelage of renowned musician Sophacles Pappas and has been played by Pappas and Segovia during master-class lessons. Comes with original Soft Shell Case.
