Presented here is a unique piece of sailing history with a tall (7 1/2") solid wood winch stand for mounting on side of wooden cockpit combing. Mounted on top of that is chrome plated single speed winch with winch slots at base (and not on top, very rare) and a heavy chrome plated cast bronze winch handle. There are no makers marks on any of the components. This was salvaged from an old wooden sailboat in the 25' to 30' range. The winch drum measures 2 1/4" in diameter, the base 4 1/4", and the winch height from stand is 4 3/4". The winch and assembly weigh 15lbs, 10oz. (7kg, 68gr). The winch moves and rachets freely and is fully operable. This would be beautiful mounted on a framed board and hung on a wall as part of any nautical maritime collection. It a nice piece of sailing history to be displayed or recommissioned on a classic sailboat. I estimated this is from 1940's to 1950's.
